It’s after the election now, but we wanted to recognize our team for their hard work on April 30 to host a Democrat primary candidate forum including speeches by Chris Deluzio and Sean Meloy, US House candidates for PA-17, and Summer Lee and Abigail Salisbury, PA House candidates for the 34th district.
This event was particularly important for Wilkinsburg because we’ve been put into new districts for both and have new candidates who haven’t previously interacted with the borough meaningfully. This was an opportunity for Wilkinsburg residents to meet the Democrat primary candidates, chat with their own Wilkinsburg municipal elected officials, and meet other voters. And we provided light snacks, hand-grilled burgers and hot dogs, and arranged for some fancy food trucks, to boot.
You can see some pictures from the event on the retrospective Facebook post for the Wilkinsburg candidate forum. Don’t forget to follow Wilkinsburg Future on Facebook, too.
We thank Public Source for their coverage in “‘Plucked up like a grape,’ towns near Pittsburgh find themselves in unfamiliar political landscapes,” but it would have been nice to acknowledge Wilkinsburg Future as the host of the event. PS has covered Wilkinsburg lately with a slant leaning toward supporting the annexation against which WF was formed to defend.
